A Warm Welcome

My introduction and the webcomic I've been working on as of late.

Welcome, and thank you for reading! My name is Bri. I wear a few hats (and some are looser than others): SFF writer; illustrator; co-Editor-in-Chief of Solarpunk Magazine; adjunct professor of English; licensed falconer; aspiring webcomic creator. Drawer of dinosaurs, dragons, and their ilk. Grower of gourds. Essentially, I am what my five-year-old self expected me to be.

For the past several months, I’ve been writing and illustrating a webcomic titled Vestigial Tail. It’s a sci-fi and fantasy series that follows Nastursa, an ex-soldier who discovers an ailing runaway sleeping in her barn. Together, they evade and fight an invading empire and discover the truth about the missing land god—a gigantic being that once maintained the ecological balance of Lappukaliy.

Here are some panels, pages, and concept art! I’ll introduce the main characters in a future post.

This project draws from my Filipino heritage; the nation of Lappukaliy is heavily inspired by multiple Filipino cultures. It also represents my first time drawing anthropomorphic characters, which has been incredibly fun! I’m aiming for a periodic release starting in late spring, 2025.
